In the heart of Cincinnati’s historic Brewery District, a once-industrial manufacturing building has been re-imagined to support the next chapter of the city’s brewing legacy.
Originally constructed in 1939, the three-story brick facility served various brewing and manufacturing operations throughout its life. Located in the historically significant neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine, the structure stands among some of Cincinnati’s most iconic brewing landmarks—an area once known as the beer capital of the United States.
Today, the building is home to Cincinnati Beverage Co., the company responsible for producing and distributing beloved regional beer brands including Hudepohl, Little Kings, and Christian Moerlein. By bringing modern production capabilities into a historic industrial space, the project preserves a connection to Cincinnati’s rich brewing heritage while supporting a new generation of craft and regional beer production. The building’s authentic industrial character also attracted the film industry—its rugged interiors served as a filming location for the 2018 action thriller Reprisal, starring Bruce Willis, further highlighting the unique atmosphere of the space.

Projects like this highlight the power of adaptive reuse—preserving historic structures while equipping them for modern industry. By carefully balancing demolition, restoration, and modernization, the Cincinnati Beverage Co. facility continues the brewing traditions that shaped the identity of Over-the-Rhine more than a century ago. Today, the building stands not only as a functional production space, but as a reminder of Cincinnati’s enduring brewing culture and industrial heritage.
